They are both based on the same LiteSpeed Network Core. While Standard Edition does feature LiteSpeed's signature speed and small overhead, it has limited features. Most notably, Standard Edition has a limit of five virtual hosts and 150 concurrent connections and cannot be scaled to use multiple processors. Enterprise Edition, on the other hand, is fine-tuned for optimal performance and security and can be scaled to make full use of multi-core servers. Though Standard Edition is fine for many small sites, web hosts and larger sites will demand Enterprise Edition's combination of speed, flexibility, and safety.
