Problem with suppression of PHP directives in .htaccess files

#1
I need to use PHP directives in .htaccess files, but apparently "LiteSpeed V7.7" suppresses them without any error messages. It took me many hours of searching to discover this fact.

What do I do? Is there a configuration file for "LiteSpeed V7.7" that can be changed to allow them?

Or is there a workaround? I'd like to continue using LiteSpeed, if possible.

I do not understand why they are suppressed, since .htaccess files are secure.

In answer to both your questions: I have no idea. That is the information reported by the phpinfo function. I have since installed a different PHP handler and still cannot execute per-directory PHP directives. How these companies get away with such brittle products is beyond me.
