Needs some Litespeed tuning tips

Hi guys,

We would like to fine tune our litespeed configuration. We run 2 sites on a dedicated server. We have around 500,000 visitors a day with spike of around 6000 to 7000 active visitors. Our server load is quite high around 18 average, but it spikes between 30 to 35. Both sites are worpress installation with W3t total cache.

Server specs:

• Dual Socket Six Core Intel Xeon E5645 2.4GHz
• 96 GB of ram

Current server load:
top - 17:10:26 up 10 days, 6:47, 3 users, load average: 21.86, 22.35, 21.43
Tasks: 641 total, 38 running, 603 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 86.4%us, 6.4%sy, 0.0%ni, 4.0%id, 0.0%wa, 0.1%hi, 3.0%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 99052704k total, 90748016k used, 8304688k free, 18884564k buffers
Swap: 2097144k total, 30728k used, 2066416k free, 31592236k cached

Litespeed configuration:

1. install opcode cache if not. for php 5.4.x, try OPcache (http://php.net/opcache)
2.for lsphp5 settings, try to reduce
Max Connections=500
PHP_LSAPI_CHILDREN=500
to 150 or 100 or 50 ?

Thanks for the tips, we are using xcache as opcode cacher. Do you think opcache could be more suited for our needed?

I will try to lower the connections of lsphp5

actually I'm not sure, you have to compare the performance to determine which one is better for your site.
