Dear LiteSpeed-ers,

We are proud to announce the first release candidate for LiteSpeed Web Server 5.0.

This release candidate includes four major new features:

1. SPDY Support - Support for SPDY/2, 3, and 3.1
2. ESI Support - ESI language allows you to break up different parts of a dynamic page, making possible partial page caching and better performance from web applications.
3. WebSocket Proxy - Allows for proxying through LiteSpeed Web Server to a WebSocket backend, so that you can use LiteSpeed features for WebSocket connections and serve non-WebSocket content on the same page using LSWS.
4. CPU Affinity - Keep your LSWS process(es) bound to a single CPU to make better use of CPU cache.

There are also other minor bug fixes included with LSWS 5.0 RC1. We will include a complete change log in the final release of LiteSpeed Web Server 5.0.

Download LSWS 5.0 RC1 here.
Read a more in depth explanation of the new features in this blog post.

We believe LSWS 5.0 will represent a major step forward in web server technology, bringing in the most powerful advances in web server technology to push forward the level of performance open to the public. Please let us know any feedback you have on the new release.
